Blue Leds
could you use red yellow blue leds to make any color?
I am tring to make diffetent colors with leds insted of using rgb leds I wanted to use the primary colors red blue and yellow would this work to make the colors in the color wheel I do plan on using knobs to control how much of each light is coming out
Take a look at a CIE chromaticity diagram (a color version), such as here:

If you pick any three colors and locate them on the diagram, then draw a triangle using those three points, you can generate any color within the triangle by mixing the lights appropriately. So if you pick red, blue, and yellow, the triangle won't encompass the greens. There is no combination of red, blue and yellow that will generate green.
By the way, you don't have to limit yourself to three colors. You could use four and draw a 4-sided shape on the diagram. Three happens to be the minimum number, is convenient, and with RGB, happens to match the receptors in the eye. But the eye doesn't care how the frequencies are generated.
If you dig deeper, the statement that all colors within the triangle can be generated isn't stricktly true. Luminance is another dimension that factors in:

The numbers 400-720 around the perimeter of the chromaticity chart are the wavelengths in nm of pure colors (100% saturation). When you buy LEDs, take a look first at what wavelength is their predominate emision. The LED manufacturers publish this number. Then look to see where they fall on the perimeter of the CIE chart, draw your triangle, and you will see what colors you can reproduce. Here is an LED color chart that maps LED color names to actual wavelengths:

You can control the intensity of the light either mechnically (with a shutter), by controlling the amount of current, or by changing the on/off duty cycle of each LED.
