What is the internal sync system?
I have an dome surveillance security camera. What is the internal sync system?
sync in video has to do with the timing of the vertical and horizontal sweep of the camera.
prior to 1970, the 5 sync signals were too complex to be generated at the camera itself. they were fed from a central signal generator and fed by multicore cables to the camera. sync consists of Horzontal, Vertical, blanking, burst flag and continuous subcarrier. then IVC invented the first stand alone camera using one of the first commercial applications of IC logic chips.
closed circuit cameras used a simplified system. they were B/W so they didn't need subcarrier or burst flag. The vertical sync was simply derived from the AC line voltage frequency. Horizontal sync was not-precise which led to "random interlace".
now all the sync circuitry is located on a single IC chip so CC cameras can internally sync a full color NTSC or PAL compatible video without being fed AC line voltage. They are made the same as a camcorder only without the recorder part, the camera head is stand alone only needing DC voltage to operate.
